PROS

1 The government has a special feed in tariff which pays a set rate per kWh of electricity that you generate and another rate for any pumped back into the national grid
2 Panels made for european countries only need light to produce energy
3 Capturing and generating your own power can effectively eliminate your energy bill
4 Clean energy means you reduce your carbon emissions by up to 1 tonne per year

CONS

1 A large area of unshaded south, south-west or south-east facing roof is required to maiximise payback. Smaller systems can be installed but payback will be longer
2 Panels are known to degrade over time by a rate of approx 20% over 25 years
3 It can also be beneficial to replace the inverter after 10 years to further enhance the power output. but this isnt essential.
